The majority of Thai people practicing Theravada Buddhism, the most oldest form of religious, that tends to be very conservative about matters of doctrine and monastic discipline. Many Thais enjoy going to the temple for merit making with family and friends that somehow ,this mass crowd, demolished the calmness and peaceful of the temple which is actually the exact core values of Buddhism temple itself.
Using fluxus’s anti- aesthetic, such as instructions and orders, with a twist of Buddhist traditional ways of merit making, the artist invites the public to write their own stories in the past that they want to forgive and let go in the providing space. In this strange facsimile street temple with a simple instruction mixed with Theravada monastic discipline to follow, the artist created a tiny version of society which people was led by nonsense rules set and beliefs that created by only one person ; the Artist as the ruler. Suphitcha addressed the conflict in Theravada Buddhism and object the problem of finding inner peace in this mad age of technology between the landscape of alternative fiction and reality.
